This week we are looking at Tanka Poems

•Tanka is an ancient form of Japanese poetry.
•It is older than Haiku
•It is usually used for a special event or to provoke a strong feeling.
•Each line consists of one image and the whole thing together completes one though.
•Like the haiku, the tanka traditionally deals with nature and seasons, but unlike the haiku, the tanka emphasizes the feelings of the author.
Here is a few from the class.
